Ventura born, Dawn started showing and selling her art in the local gallery scene as a teenager and started her own jewelry design business at age 16. Reily graduated from Sonoma State with a Bachelors in Fine Art, Teaching credentials, and Associate degrees with concentrations in 2-D arts, sculpture, gallery management, jewelry design, printmaking, metals, Chinese brush painting, and computer graphics. After teaching Glass Art, Sculpture, and Art and Design for 5-years at a High School in Novato, California, she has returned to Ventura to refocus on her personal art career. Her current work centers on the lost art of glass enameling on metal and fused glass. The artist feels that enameling on glass is a marriage of science and art and combines her painting skills with sculptural techniques. Reily still enjoys painting in various mediums, working in collage media, body painting, creating costumes, dabbling in fiber arts, and sculptural pieces with recycled materials. Her inspirations are derived from her interests in the life sciences, patterns in nature, and the many animals with whom she rescues and shares her home. Reily’s more personal self-portrait work is influenced by the life work of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, as she can relate to her personal struggles.
