Attention Ventura Arts Community! Are you looking to get more involved in the arts scene here? The monthly Cultural Affairs Commission Meeting is this Thursday, May 25th at 5:30 PM. There are some important topics on this month’s agenda, which include restoring a substantial portion of funding to the Cultural Affairs Grant Program, updating the Cultural Plan for the City, and potentially bringing quarterly arts programs.

The Cultural Affairs Commission provides planning, financial support, services for, and promoting development of arts organizations, artists, and cultural activity and tourism in the City. They also advise on matters pertaining to the arts, culture, and cultural tourism.

Created in 1994, the Cultural Affairs Commission is a volunteer body of 7 members that advises the Council on cultural matters and oversees the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA.) Commissioners are appointed directly by City Council.
