Bell Arts Factory is excited to announce our new community mangers, Maribel Hernandez and Rico Mandel. Both Maribel and Rico are tenants here and have signed on to help with some of the business needs here at BAF. They’ve already been hard at work on a few projects, and we are very happy to have them as a part of the team!
Here’s a little about them. Maribel Hernandez has been a tenant here at Bell Arts since day one. First renting a small studio in the building and eventually moving up to her current home in Studio 97, Maribel works in a variety of mediums: painting, ceramics, drawing, mosaics, and jewelry, just to name a few. Her studio is always a draw First Fridays, exhibiting both her work and the work of other local artists. Over the summer, Maribel was also “la Maestra” for our groundbreaking summer art camp, taught entirely in Spanish. Most recently, Maribel has been honor with the Artist of Distinction Award for ArtWalk Ventura 2017.
Rico Mandel, a photographer, chef, came to Bell Arts Factory about two years ago, occupying Studio 99. For over 30 years Rico Mandel has specialized in creating commercial and fine art imagery. Rico’s fine art work has been featured in coveted photo shows and exhibits including Photo LA, Paris Photo Fever, Photo Independent and The Duncan Miller Gallery at Bergamot Station, L.A.
His extreme curiosity for the finer details in life also encompasses a passion for fine food. With a degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, CA, Rico found yet another niche for his photographic and marketing expertise.
Maribel and Rico both bring Bell Arts Factory an unique set of experiences and connections to the Ventura Arts scene. They have already been hard at work with artist studio rentals, tenant concerns, and other day to to needs of Bell Arts Factory. They have also been instrumental in coordinating the First Friday and ArtWalk Ventura events.
Please join us and welcome Rico and Maribel. You can find them in the office every Monday – Thursday from 11 am – 2 pm.
