Elena Horowitz-Brookes has been a painter for over thirty-five years.
Her formal education includes Otis Art Institute and UCSB, where she graduated with a BFA degree. She has always been interested in experimenting with various mediums. Her current working mediums are acrylic on canvas, graphite on paper, and watercolor on textured Lana paper. Much of her new work is intended to represent imaginary landscapes in a world altered due to great ecological changes. Here she hopes to stimulate thoughtfulness in relation to our valuing the reproductive process of all nature. Other work is strictly abstract and non-referential. From a very young age, Elena has found that paint is her tool to unleash deeper connections to her inner self.
