Va Por La Avenida continues its tradition of creating innovative programs. One of these programs is: Point of Intersection.
Ventura local artists and the business community of Ventura Avenue will engage in a collaborative effort where the artists create a limited edition of their art and the small businesses will offer these items to their patrons. This collaboration is not only a win-win for the artists and the local businesses, but also for the community members since they will be obtaining original art with a minimal purchase from their local businesses. We create points of intersection between Ventura community artists and Avenue businesses where artists create a limited edition of their art and collaborate with businesses in order to promote the support needed for our local Avenue businesses.
Va Por La Avenida continúa su tradición de crear programas innovadores. Uno de estos programas es: Punto de Intersección.
Los artistas locales de Ventura y la comunidad empresarial de Ventura Avenue participarán en un esfuerzo de colaboración en el que los artistas crearán una edición limitada de su arte y las pequeñas empresas ofrecerán estos artículos a sus clientes. I am Sue, a Mexican woman born in Tepatitlán, Jalisco.
I have been a tattoo artist for 6 years. I am a Mix Media artist, I use acrylic paint, watercolor and embroidery. I am also passionate about taking pictures and I am inspired by music, nature, colors, women and Mexican culture!
It is incredible to work with and for our people and thus be able to show everyone what my culture means to me.

About the Artist:
Angel Villarreal was born in Ventura, California. He is a first-generation Latino artist. At a young age he became intrigued by the use of color and texture. As he grew, so did his love for painting. He likes to paint with bright colors and fine lines. Mexican folklore has become a major influence in his artwork.

Since the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, it was hard to feel motivated to continue to create my ceramic pottery. When asked to collaborate with Point of Intersection as the new project for Va Por La Avenida, I jumped at the opportunity to have a reason to get back in the studio. I am excited to make new pottery designs that will benefit Va Por la Avenida, a community building project through Bell Arts Factory, and honored to have my tea and coffee beverage pottery at LOVEWELL Tea & Coffee.
Collaborations mean inspiration, new beginnings, and purpose.
Patty Keller
Biography:
Patricia Keller earned her Bachelor of Arts in 2019 from California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) in Camarillo, California. She studied ceramics, sculpture, and screen printing. Keller creates large-scale hand-built sculptures and site-specific installations inspired by the intersectionality of nature and human existence, which she uses to represent a mood or concept in a tangible form. Keller was awarded an internship upon graduation from CSUCI at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts in Ojai, California which resulted in the 2020 solo show Lost City. Also in 2020, she was invited to exhibit an installation series, Detritus, for CSUCI’s Napa Hall Grad Wall. Her art has been exhibited in local group shows at Gallery 2 and New Media Gallery at Ventura College, Palm Temporary at CSUCI, the Buenaventura Art Association, the Tool Room at Bell Arts Factory, and 643 Project Space in Ventura, California.
She currently teaches ceramic workshops through Vita Art Center in Ventura, California.
Keller keeps her hand in clay creating functional pottery. Intrigued by the efficiency and beauty created by the potter’s wheel, Keller revels in the challenge to maintain the natural beauty of clay and the handmade touch. Her balanced designs ensure intrigue and enjoyment remain evident in each creation. She sells her pottery through Studio 97 at Bell Arts Factory in Ventura.
Desde el pedido de COVID-19 de quedarse en casa, fue difícil sentirme motivada para continuar creando mi cerámica. Cuando me pidieron que colaborará con Punto de Intersección, el nuevo proyecto de Va Por La Avenida, aproveché la oportunidad para tener una razón para volver al estudio. Estoy emocionado de hacer nuevos diseños de cerámica que beneficiarán a Va Por la Avenida, un proyecto de construcción comunitaria a través de Bell Arts Factory, y es un honor tener mi cerámica para bebidas de té y café en LOVEWELL Tea & Coffee.

Ever fallen in love with a place that instantly felt like home? That’s our story! Several years ago, we (Andrea and Emily) took a trip to Ireland. There wasn’t much about this beautiful country that we didn’t fall in love with. The history, the people, the tea (Andrea) the coffee (Emily) and pretty much everything about the culture fascinated and delighted us. We went exploring, and the more we discovered the more we fell in love with. One idea that captivated us thoroughly was from a cafe called Third Space. You live in one space, work in another, but your third space is a space for margin in your life. In the third space you meet friends, you eat, you plan, you dream and you lay the foundation for incredible things to be built into your life. We knew after the introduction of this idea (thanks to Third Space in Dublin) we wanted to see something replicated at home in California. A place for people to come and not only feel welcomed but invited. A space to pause, to breathe, a place to be loved, and loved on and a place to cultivate something incredible in the community and in the hearts of friends old and new. Thus, Lovewell Tea & Coffee was born. A cafe in Ventura where everyone is welcomed to belong. A place to grab a great cup of tea or coffee and have hangs with the fam, games with your friends, or simply journal and dream. Our own Third Space in Ventura, where our deepest desire is to meet you where you are at and love you well. That’s our mission, our heartbeat for the community and the spirit behind Lovewell Tea & Coffee. Welcome friends, we’re here to love you well.

COMPARTIENDO HISTORIAS ALREDEDOR DE UNA TAZA
¿Alguna vez se ha enamorado de un lugar que instantáneamente se sintió como su hogar? ¡Esa es nuestra historia! Hace varios años, nosotros (Andrea y Emily) hicimos un viaje a Irlanda. No había mucho de este hermoso país que no nos enamorara. La historia, la gente, el té (Andrea), el café (Emily) y casi todo lo relacionado con la cultura nos fascinó y encantó. Fuimos a explorar y cuanto más descubrimos, más nos enamoramos. Una idea que nos cautivó profundamente fue la de un café llamado Third Space. Vives en un espacio, trabajas en otro, pero tu tercer espacio es un espacio de margen en tu vida. En el tercer espacio te encuentras con amigos, comes, planeas, sueñas y pones las bases para que cosas increíbles se incorporen a tu vida. Sabíamos que después de la introducción de esta idea (gracias a Third Space en Dublín) queríamos ver algo replicado en casa, California. Un lugar para que la gente venga y no solo se sienta bienvenida sino también invitada. Un espacio para hacer una pausa, para respirar, un lugar para ser amado y seguir amando, y un lugar para cultivar algo increíble en la comunidad y en los corazones de los viejos y nuevos amigos. Así nació Lovewell Tea & Coffee. Un café en Ventura donde todos son bienvenidos. Un lugar para tomar una gran taza de té o café y pasar el rato con la familia, jugar con tus amigos o simplemente escribir un diario y soñar. Nuestro propio tercer espacio en Ventura, donde nuestro más profundo deseo es encontrarte donde estés y amarte bien (LOVEWELL). I am a self-taught artist. When I was 14 years old I took my first art class and since then I’ve been discovering myself, interested in many art disciplines. My main focus is the human figure. Every detail that makes a person unique. For that reason, I took some drawing and life drawing classes at Ventura College. I recently studied digital arts and computer animation at Laurus College, Oxnard Campus. Since then I’ve been working in 3D modeling, for video games in particular. Even though I love the digital arts, I still spend lots of time with acrylics on traditional canvas. Also, the simplicity of a pencil and a piece of paper means a new world for me to explore. Nowadays I’m exploring and enjoying the art of making Murals. I learned some techniques from MB Hanrahan, at Bell Arts Factory, in Ventura, that made a world of difference.
Cuando tenía 14 años tomé mi primera clase de arte y desde entonces me he ido descubriendo, interesado en muchas disciplinas artísticas. Mi foco principal es la figura humana. Cada detalle que hace a una persona única. Por esa razón, tomé algunas clases de dibujo y dibujo natural en Ventura College. Recientemente estudié artes digitales y animación computarizada en Laurus College, Oxnard Campus. Desde entonces he estado trabajando en modelado 3D, para videojuegos en particular. Andrew Rodriguez is a Southern California based artist and designer living and working in and around Ventura and Los Angeles County. Since 2011 he has created artwork, design, and murals for nice folks like: Trader Joe’s, Pressgang Cellars, Curri, James Ennis, Flying Embers, Centri Coffee, Leashless Brewing, and Downtown Ventura. Between client work, parenting and surfing, you’ll find him around town creating new projects or traveling the coast with his energetic family of four.

Exhibited canvas art in shows and galleries in Soho, New York City, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Palm Springs Desert Museum, Sacramento, Ojai, Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, California. Painted murals in and outside of Kona Hawaii, Honolulu Hawaii, Carlsbad California up to Seattle Washington and over to Las Vegas Nevada and just about everywhere in between.

Was born in Michoacan, Mexico. At an early age she demonstrated irrepressible creative passion. By age four, her favorite rainy-day activity was to make spiral and doll-shaped variations of hop-scotch designs. By age 8, the young visionary was captivated for hours by watching waves of bird migration patterns in the sky. She received her first colored pencil set from her grandmother as a souvenir from her journey to “El Norte” (the States). This watered in the young artist a love for vibrant color in her creative expressions. However, these expressions did not land on canvas or an official sketchbook until after Maribel arrived in California. Maribel’s continued use of vibrant color distinguishes her current style. Her work ranges from design (graphic, interior, and fashion accessories), photography, ceramics, and painting. In constant pursuit of color and diverse media, Maribel’s work speaks of her passion for life, with its various rhythms and emotional landscapes.

Restore Ventura has brought a community together as people from diverse backgrounds work to beautify their neighborhood through landscaping and gardening. The Restore Garden holds monthly volunteer days and participates in the First Friday arts & music event in Ventura, as well as being a stop on the Ventura Art Walk. As Restore Ventura has equipped families in need with the tools for success, they have seen the lives of individuals changed, which in turn changes a community. Restore Ventura models residents giving back to a neighborhood in need to work towards a common goal of restoration in a city. Since its inception, the Gallegos family has been privileged to witness incredible transformation of impoverished areas through Restore Ventura while also inspiring the youth around them to create beautiful futures for themselves.
Restore Ventura ha unido a una comunidad a medida que personas de diversos orígenes trabajan para embellecer su vecindario a través de la jardinería y el diseño de este mismo.
