Although our name makes it clear that we have something to do with art, what we offer our community is much broader and deeper than you think. Here are 3 reasons why the impact of your donation would ripple outwards, affecting many people and families on the Avenue, in Ventura, and beyond:
#1: Galería Cooperativa featuring Ventura’s BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ Artists
With a worldwide awakening to the systematic oppression of people of color and those who are LGBTQIA+, it has become more pressing than ever for Bell Arts Factory to remain a force against racism and continue moving forward until all forms of prejudice are eradicated.
Bell Arts Factory recently opened Galería Cooperativa, a community art gallery, workspace and storefront on Ventura Avenue on November 5, 2021. Located in the studio 30 space of Bell Arts Factory, Galería Cooperativa, will create a space for local artists to engage with community members to develop collaborative solutions that address social problem that include racism and injustice; economic inequity; domestic and sexual violence against women; and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 in minority communities.
Galería Cooperativa will feature BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ artists from Ventura and nearby cities. Confirmed artists include: Andrew Rodriguez, Ventura CA, Sergio Martinez, Santa Paula CA, Sue Franco, Ventura CA, Cesar Aldana, Oxnard CA, and Yumiko Glover from Goleta CA. In addition to using the gallery and studio space, each artist will develop a series of community workshops and classes designed to use art as a tool to create personal and social change.
Your donation would help pay for the costs of workshops, installation, publicity, facilities, and materials that may be needed for the workshops.

# 1: Galería Cooperativa presentando artistas BIPOC y LGBTQIA + de Ventura
Con un despertar mundial a la opresión sistemática de las personas de color y aquellos que son LGBTQIA +, se ha vuelto más urgente que nunca para Bell Arts Factory seguir siendo una fuerza contra el racismo y continuar avanzando hasta erradicar todas las formas de prejuicio.
Bell Arts Factory abrió recientemente Galería Cooperativa, una galería de arte comunitaria, y espacio de trabajo en Ventura Avenue el 5 de noviembre de 2021. #2: Youth Art Program and Spanish Language Art Classes for Children
Michele Foster leads the Youth Art Program. She is an artist, activist, and teacher living in Ventura, California. Centered at the Bell Arts Factory since the organization’s inception in 2006, she has served there as the lead teacher and coordinator of the youth program. She also has more than 20 years experience offering services and guidance to foster care and emancipation programs where she focuses on art as a key factor in the process of healing and helping women and children find their voices through creativity.
The Spanish Language Art Created and led by Maribel Hernandez, a bilingual artist from Mexico and the Executive Director of Bell Arts Factory. Arte en Espanol is a year-round series of art classes that provide children on the Avenue the opportunity to learn and create art. Since most of them go to one of two nearby elementary schools that do not offer art in their curriculum, we are often their only source of art instruction and exposure to the arts. Nearly all students come from low-income families who cannot afford our tuition, which is already subsidized by grants; this is why we provide scholarships that are funded in part through donations like yours!
# 2: Programa de arte en inglés y en español
Michele Foster dirige el Programa de Arte para Niños y Jóvenes. Es una artista, activista y maestra que vive en Ventura, California. Centrada en Bell Arts Factory desde el inicio de la organización en 2006, se ha desempeñado allí como maestra principal y coordinadora del programa juvenil. También tiene más de 20 años de experiencia ofreciendo servicios y orientación a programas de acogimiento familiar y emancipación donde se enfoca en el arte como factor clave en el proceso de curación y ayuda a mujeres y niños a encontrar sus voces a través de la creatividad.
Creado y dirigido por Maribel Hernández, una artista bilingüe de México y Gerente General de Bell Arts Factory, Arte en Español es una serie de clases de arte que se imparten durante todo el año y que brindan a los niños de la Avenida la oportunidad de aprender y crear arte. Dado que la mayoría de ellos asisten a una de las dos escuelas primarias cercanas que no ofrecen arte en su plan de estudios, a menudo somos su única fuente de instrucción artística y exposición a las artes. Casi todos los estudiantes provienen de familias de bajos ingresos que no pueden pagar nuestra matrícula, que ya está subvencionada por becas; ¡Por eso proporcionamos becas que se financian en parte a través de donaciones como la suya!
#3: Better Health and Wellness Through Art and Culture
From Capoeira Batuque Ventura, Ballet Folklórico, Danza Azteca with Resistencia Mexicayotl Chalchiuhtlicue, Yoga and meditation with Yoga at Bell Arts Factory and Primas Colectivas, to Circulo de Amigas, Bell Arts Factory is host to a range of dance and ancient forms of movement, and partners with local businesses and artists that help people stay physically and mentally healthy through art, culture, and a sense of belonging. It is our dream to support groups like this for free — your donation can help us cover our rent for this historically significant building and facility, directly benefiting the cultural richness of Ventura and the wellness of its residents.

Desde Capoeira Batuque Ventura, Ballet Folklórico, Danza Azteca con Resistencia Mexicayotl Chalchiuhtlicue, Yoga y meditación con Yoga en Bell Arts Factory y Primas Colectivas, hasta Circulo de Amigas, Bell Arts Factory alberga una variedad de danzas y formas antiguas de movimiento, y se asocia con empresas y artistas locales que ayudan a las personas a mantenerse sanas física y mentalmente a través del arte, la cultura y el sentido de pertenencia. Nuestro sueño es apoyar a grupos como este de forma gratuita; su donación puede ayudarnos a cubrir el alquiler de este edificio e instalación de importancia histórica, beneficiando directamente la riqueza cultural de Ventura y el bienestar de sus residentes.
