Ventura CA 93001

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter, recognized for her famous self-portraits, described as part of the surrealist movement. The painter, who said she did not identify with the movement, created her own style taking aspects of her life, mixing them with the elements of nature and Mexican identity. Frida was inspired by popular culture to explore gender, class, race, and Mexican society through her painting. Frida Kahlo’s paintings are works of autobiographical material, bringing together fantasy and magical realism with the true events of her life.

We’re paying tribute to legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with To Frida Con Amor, a commemoration of her birthday.

There will be lots of activities happening at Bell Arts Factory this upcoming First Friday July 1st:

Art Exhibit: To Frida Con Amor will be featuring Frida Kahlo as the main subject and will include our community artists’s artwork inspired by Frida’s art and life.

Bell Arts Factory Artists will have Open Studios and Vendors will welcome you in the Community Room.

Natalia Alyse will be performing LIVE starting at 8:00 pm.

Josiah Guzik created a beautiful replica of Frida’s bed for you to lay in.

Sergio Martinez and Maribel Hernandez created a picture set, inspired by Frida. Come dressed like Frida and take your picture by it.

Come and join us, we promise a good time!
