Danza Mexicayotl de Ventura
Begin Va Por La Avenida with a ceremonial ritual and dance, rooted in the tradition. Danza Mexicayotl de Ventura is a community of people dedicated to preserving and promoting Mexica/Azteca culture, ceremonies, warrior dances, and traditions of our Indigenous ancestors. Danza Mexicayotl works to build unity, understanding, mutual respect, and harmony amongst all nations.

12:35–1:15p.m.
Ballet Folklórico
Lead by maestras Edith Reyes and Rebecca Duran Ballet Folklorico Bell Arts will bring the beautiful art of Mexican Folklore dance to the Ventura Avenue community for Va Por La Avenida. Performances (and costumes) draw from their extensive repertoire, representing the various cultures of: Jalisco, Veracruz, Chiapas, Hidalgo, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Guerrero, Zacatecas and Tamaulipas.

1:15–2:15p.m.
Trio Yolipan
A trio of local artists will song and serenade us to launch Va Por La Avenida. You have probably heard these semi-mysterious performers around town, sometimes as a duo, trio or even solo. They will begin their performance in Kellogg Park and then trail down the Avenue, maybe even surprising passer-bys with an impromptu serenade.
